Phoenix to Payson

I spent the first 3 days of my Phoenix vacation exploring with my parents and then parted ways to spend some quality time with a my friend Deb that I’ve known since middle school. Mom Dad and I started are trip wandering Phoenix a little because our rental car was running 3 hours late. Got to a bead shop, an REI, and a disc golf shop. Even stopped for lunch at a Mellow Mushroom Yum! Then we headed out to Apache Junction and through the superstition mountains over to the Theodore Roosevelt Dam and up to Payson. It was a great drive through the desert and up to the pines with lots of canyons and my favorite Saguaro Cacti! We even saw a roadrunner.

  1. Well, this weekend we had a chance to get out of town and spend some time at our friend’s place in Forest Lakes, AZ. since we weren’t planning to meet our friends up there until the evening, we decided to stop in Payson and give the Beeline Café a try. We’d heard that it was a quaint little place that had held its own in this small town since the early 60’s.

So all in all, if you’re expecting any kind of Nuevo cuisine, organic or fresh-picked fare, I doubt you’ll find it here. But if you’re hungry for a good old fashioned diner-style meal, this is the place to stop when you’re in the Payson area.
